The Bahamas
Swimming pigs in the Exumas, Atlantis in Nassau, and 700 islands of turquoise water — the Caribbean's most diverse archipelago.
The best trips are the ones you take together.
If it’s Family Travel… Travel Well.
Travel that works for every age in the group — toddler to grandparent. Family Travel covers multi-generational itineraries built around the reality that a 6-year-old and a 16-year-old need different things from the same holiday. Kid-friendly beach resorts with shallow water and supervised activities. Educational safari camps where children become junior rangers. Road trips through national parks. Cultural immersions with family cooking classes. Ski holidays with dedicated children's ski schools. And the practical intelligence — airlines with family seating, resorts with babysitting, and destinations where travelling with children is celebrated rather than tolerated.
Swimming pigs in the Exumas, Atlantis in Nassau, and 700 islands of turquoise water — the Caribbean's most diverse archipelago.
Gaudi's dreamlike city by the sea — marvel at the Sagrada Familia, graze tapas through the Gothic Quarter, and unwind on Barceloneta beach.
Aztec ruins one day, cenote diving the next, all-inclusive beach the day after — the Yucatán delivers three holidays in one.
Pura vida on the Pacific — surf the breaks at Tamarindo, zip-line through the Rincon de la Vieja cloud forest, and soak in volcanic hot springs.
Thirty kilometres of Bávaro Beach, the Caribbean's largest all-inclusive corridor, and humpback whales off Samaná from January to March.
Maui's two faces — drive the cliff-hugging Road to Hana, watch sunrise above the clouds at Haleakala, and snorkel the Molokini crater.
STUB: Add tagline for Iguazú Falls
One island. One resort. One lagoon. The overwater bungalow was born here — and nothing has come close since.
Where pink flamingos outnumber tourists and the only rush is the ferry timetable.
Grace Bay Beach is not hyperbole — it is simply the clearest, calmest, most beautiful stretch of sand in the Atlantic world.
The bungee jump that started everything, The Remarkables at your back, and a Central Otago Pinot Noir to end the day.
Costa Rica's vibrant gateway — tour the gold and jade museums, day-trip to the steaming Poas volcano, and sip world-class coffee in the green Central Valley.
A future-city that eats brilliantly — wander the Supertrees of Gardens by the Bay, hawker-hop Michelin street food, and stroll the glowing Marina Bay skyline.
The Opera House, the Harbour Bridge, and a coastal walk culture that has produced the southern hemisphere's finest food city.
TravelWell Expedition Index
Ranked by TravelWell's editorial team on access, uniqueness, ecological integrity and the particular quality of being somewhere that makes you reconsider what travel actually is.
Orlando, Florida
United States
The world capital of family entertainment. The sheer scale of what Walt Disney World, Universal Studios, and SeaWorld offer means even repeat visitors discover something new. No destination on earth has more family infrastructure.
Costa Rica
Costa Rica
Zip lines, sloth sanctuaries, volcano hikes, and two coastlines. Costa Rica does adventure and wildlife at a child-safe pace — the best nature destination for families in the Americas.
Turks & Caicos (Providenciales)
Turks & Caicos Islands
Beaches Turks & Caicos is one of the finest family all-inclusive resorts in the world. Grace Bay is ultra-calm, crystal clear, and safe for all ages. Taylor Bay (ultra-shallow, glassy) is the best beach for toddlers anywhere in the Caribbean.
Tuscany, Italy
Italy
Cooking classes, countryside castles, gelato competitions, and a culture that genuinely adores children. Italy is the world's most welcoming destination for families who want education built into their holiday.
Japan (Tokyo + Kyoto)
Japan
Japan is extraordinarily family-friendly: safe, spotless, punctual, and utterly fascinating to children at every age. The bullet train, the temple markets, the robot restaurants — Japan turns every sceptical teenager into a convert.
New Zealand
New Zealand
Lord of the Rings landscapes, bungee jumping that scales for age, whale watching, and a culture of outdoors that makes children (and adults) feel genuinely alive. New Zealand rewards active families.
Bali, Indonesia
Indonesia
Waterfalls, rice terraces, surf lessons, and temples. Bali is affordable, safe, and endlessly stimulating for curious young travelers. The Ubud Monkey Forest alone is worth the flight.
Portugal (Algarve)
Portugal
Sea caves, golden cliff beaches, water parks, and pasteis de nata for breakfast. The Algarve combines Mediterranean family infrastructure with Portuguese warmth.
Barbados
Barbados
One of the Caribbean's most family-friendly islands: calm west coast beaches, the turtles at Paynes Bay, the Barbados Wildlife Reserve, and a hotel sector built for families.
Iceland
Iceland
Waterfalls children can walk behind, geysers erupting on cue, whale watching from Reykjavík, and the Northern Lights. Iceland keeps everyone in the family engaged.
Hawaii (Maui)
United States
Snorkelling with sea turtles, the Road to Hana, volcano national park — Hawaii at its best on a family scale. Maui pitches perfectly between accessible and extraordinary.
Disneyland Paris
France
More compact and European than its Florida counterpart, with a Parisian charm that makes the adults feel less like they're just along for the ride. Still magical for ages 3–103.
Riviera Maya, Mexico
Mexico
Cenote swimming, Tulum ruins, Xcaret eco-park, and all-inclusive family resorts on the best beaches in Mexico. The Riviera Maya combines culture, nature, and resort infrastructure perfectly.
Phuket, Thailand
Thailand
Elephant sanctuaries, Thai cooking classes, limestone island kayaking — Phuket has shed its party reputation and emerged as one of Southeast Asia's best family destinations.
Kenya (Masai Mara)
Kenya
A family safari in the Mara teaches children more about the natural world than any classroom. Most lodges now offer junior ranger programs, bush walks, and game drives specially paced for under-12s.
Azores, Portugal
Portugal
Volcanic lakes, whale watching, hot springs, and a sense of discovery that makes children feel genuinely like explorers. The Azores is underrated family travel.
Switzerland
Switzerland
Mountain railways, chocolate factories, the Jungfraujoch, and lake swimming in summer — Switzerland runs like the watches it makes, and families move through it effortlessly.
Santorini, Greece
Greece
Not the obvious family pick, but it works: a small, safe island where the donkeys, the volcanic black sand beaches, and the caldera views keep all ages occupied.
Safari (Kruger, South Africa)
South Africa
South Africa's family-friendly safari infrastructure — self-drive options, family lodges, and the sheer diversity of Kruger's wildlife — makes the Big Five accessible at any age.
Fiji
Fiji
The Fijian welcome is genuinely the warmest in the Pacific. The coral reefs, the bure-style resort rooms, and the supervised kids' programs make Fiji a family honeymoon destination in the truest sense.

Many of our family resorts include a supervised, licensed Kids’ Club — totally safe, and the girls get their own adventure for a couple of hours.
🛡️ How we vet: TravelWell only surfaces childcare services we’ve checked — we read the reviews, scan safety notices, and look across social media for any red flags in a service’s history before it appears here (and we leave off the ones that don’t pass). We don’t employ these sitters or run the kids’ clubs, so please do your own check too: confirm background and sex-offender screening, CPR/first-aid certification, and references; meet your sitter in person first; and never leave a child with anyone unvetted. Tap “See reviews” on any option to read the ratings yourself.
TravelWell is not a background-check service, and no single global sex-offender registry exists — coverage varies by country, and many have none at all. So here’s the truth and the tools. What we do: we only list childcare services that publicly document their own screening (background checks, sex-offender screening, CPR/first-aid, references), we re-verify each service regularly, and we leave off any with red flags in their history. What only you can do: use the official registry for your destination and your home country below, confirm the screening your specific sitter has had, ask for references and CPR certification, and meet anyone in person before you trust them with your child. Your child’s safety is never something to outsource entirely.
Check it yourself — official tools
NSOPW — U.S. Dept. of Justice National Sex Offender Public Website
Free official search across every U.S. state, territory, and tribal sex-offender registry, by name or location.
Child Sex Offender Disclosure Scheme (“Sarah’s Law”)
The UK has no public registry — but you can ask the police whether someone with access to your child has a record.
ACCCE — Australian Centre to Counter Child Exploitation
National registries are police-only; ACCCE has reporting tools and child-safety guidance for families.
RCMP — National Sex Offender Registry (police-administered)
Canada’s registry isn’t public — request checks and guidance through local police / RCMP.
INTERPOL
No global public registry exists; INTERPOL publishes international notices on serious offenders.
Childcare.gov — Background-check standards & how to screen a caregiver
The US federal benchmark (fingerprint, sex-offender registry, multi-state checks) — a strong checklist to hold any sitter to, anywhere.
Our childcare vetting was last reviewed 2026-05-30 and is re-checked every 90 days. Tap any service’s own safety page (shown on its card) to confirm exactly what it screens for.
